Symphonic Dances - Mixed Bill

  • Virtuoso dance from The Royal Ballet is at the heart of this mixed programme, which includes two short masterpieces from William Forsythe and George Balanchine, the first revival of Christopher Wheeldon’s Strapless and the world premiere of a new abstract ballet by Liam Scarlett.
    The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude 
    Set to the final movement of Schubert’s ‘Great’ Symphony, five dancers are pushed to their limits.

    Tarantella
    A pas de deux bursting with wit and swagger by George Balanchine.
    Strapless
    This narrative ballet by Christopher Wheeldon explores hypocrisy, ambition and desire, and features a brilliant ballerina role at its centre.
    Symphonic Dances
    This new abstract work from Liam Scarlett, Artist in Residence at The Royal Ballet, closes the programme.
