  • One of the most important rediscoveries of the 20th-century opera, André Tchaikowsky’s Shakespeare-inspired opera receives its London premiere this summer at the Royal Opera House.
    The Merchant of Venice is the only opera from British-Polish pianist and composer André Tchaikowsky. He worked on the opera over many years and was was finishing the work when he died from cancer in 1982. world premiere came thirty years later in 2013 at the Bregenz Festival, in a production commissioned by David Pountney.
    Drected by Keith Warner, this production by the Welsh National Opera is not to be missed by opera fans.
