  • Rediscover this timeless classic about love and freedom, with music and lyrics by Rodgers and Hammerstein. With a score that includes the iconic ‘Do-Re-Mi’, ‘Climb Ev’ry Mountain’, ‘My Favourite Things’, ‘Sixteen Going on Seventeen’ and ‘Edelweiss’, THE SOUND OF MUSIC strikes a resounding note with audiences across the globe to this day.
    Charlotte Wakefield and Michael Xavier star as Maria and Captain Von Trapp. Caroline Keiff (Wicked, Legally Blonde The Musical) plays Elsa Schraeder; Helen Hobson (Blood Brothers, Mamma Mia!, Passion, Aspects of Love) plays Mother Abbess; Michael Matus (Martin Guerre, Lend Me A Tenor) plays Max Detweiler; and Faye Brookes (Grease) plays Liesl.
    Set in Salzburg, Austria just before the outbreak of World War II, THE SOUND OF MUSIC is based on “The Trapp Family Singers” by Maria Augusta Trapp. This will be the first time that a Rodgers & Hammerstein musical has been performed at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre.
    Directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, with book by Howard Lindsay and Russell Crouse, choreography by Alistair David, set and costume designs by Peter McKintosh and lighting by Tim Mitchell. Presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Limited on behalf of R&H Theatricals of New York.
