Eyam

Globe Theatre, London, SE1 9DT
  • Eyam is a new play by Matt Hartley.
1665. As the plague runs rife through London, Reverend William Mompesson arrives in Eyam, Derbyshire, to lead the parish. But Eyam is no sleepy backwater; it is a village at war with itself. The community has dissolved, and neighbour feuds with neighbour under the watchful eye of a ruthless landowner bent on maintaining his grip on the village. When the plague arrives in Eyam, the villagers are tasked with examining their civic responsibility, as they must decide whether to stay quarantined or flee and risk spreading the deadly disease.
Sam Crane (Farinelli and the King) will star as William Mompesson. He will be joined by Priyanga Burford (Consent) as Katherine Mompesson, Annette Badland (Outlander) as Reverend Stanley, John Paul Connolly (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom) as John Hancock, Oliver Ryan (Glengarry Glen Ross) as Unwin, Will Keane (The Crown) as John Sydall, Sirine Saba (Goats) as Mary Cooper, Adrian Bower (Hedda) as Phillip Sheldon, and Norah Lopez-Holden (Ghosts) as Emmott Sydall.
The cast also includes Howard Ward (Wild Honey) as Marshall Howe, Becci Gemmell (Call the Midwife) as Elizabeth Sydall and Mary Talbot, Luke MacGregor (Titus Andronicus) as Edward Cooper and Rolland Torre, Zora Bishop (For Those Who Cry When They Hear the Foxes Scream) as Elizabeth Sheldon and Elizabeth Hancock, Jordan Metcalfe (Wendy and Peter) as Francis Bockinge and George Viccars, and Rose Wardlaw (Jubilee) as Harriet Stubbs.
