Platonov

National Theatre (Olivier Theatre), London, SE1 9PX
  • Anton Chekhov's Platonov is on now at the National Theatre, as part of the Young Chekhov season.
Schoolteacher Mikhail Platonov has a problem – he’s irresistible to women. Set in the blazing heat of a rural summer, this freewheeling comedy is a cry of youthful defiance against the compromises of middle age.
This Chichester Festival Theatre production is adapted by David Hare whose stage plays include Skylight, Pravada and screenplays include The Hours and The Reader, and directed by Jonathan Kent (Gypsy, Private Lives).
After receiving overwhelming acclaim at Chichester Festival Theatre last year, the Young Chekhov trilogy now comes to the National Theatre, offering a unique chance to explore the birth of a revolutionary dramatic voice.
At the National's Olivier Theatre, book your Platonov tickets today!

'McArdle is terrific, charismatic and vital, a lodestar for the action whirling around him'

    MAIL ON SUNDAY

'Platonov is a riotous farce with Scots actor James McArdle superb as a Don Juan-type schoolmaster at whose feet women throw themselves like lemmings. Total joy'
