Lee Bul Exhibition

Southbank Centre, London, SE1 8XX
  • Lee Bul Exhibition is a mid-career survey of the work of acclaimed South Korean artist Lee Bul exploring the artist’s extensive investigation into the body and its relationship to architectural space.
Over the past 30 years, Lee Bul has explored questions of intimacy, gender, technology and class through a focus on the body. Drawing on science fiction, bioengineering and visionary architecture, as well as Japanese anime and manga, her work includes performance, drawing, painting and large-scale immersive installations.
Occupying the entire gallery, this exhibition includes documentation of early performances, sculptural works from the iconic Monster, Cyborg and Anagram series and recent immersive installations, as well as a selection of the artist’s studio drawings.
Exploring the political, cultural and historical context of Lee Bul’s practice, the exhibition also showcases new works and site-specific installations that respond to the architecture of the newly reopened Hayward Gallery at the Southbank Centre, including one that partially envelopes the gallery’s exterior.
Supported by The Korea Foundation and The Henry Moore Foundation.
At the Hayward Gallery at the Southbank Centre until 19 August 2018, book your Lee Bul Exhibition tickets today!
